Prompt 2
Goals for My Second Year
School only started back a few weeks ago, but my second year of college already seems to be flying by. I want to make the most of this year and the opportunities it will present me, so I have a few goals in mind that I want to accomplish by next May.
-
I want to apply for my minor during the fall semester, hopefully during the month of September.
-
I would like to prepare a poster to present at either the Fall or Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium (or perhaps both, if I am lucky!).
-
I hope to start regularly volunteering at a veterinary clinic in order to gain more experience hours.
-
I want to finalize my plans to study abroad during the summer of 2020.
-
I want to successfully conquer both Organic Chemistry I and II, especially after hearing so many horror stories about those classes.

There are many more things that I want to accomplish during my sophomore year, but I am hoping that, amidst all of the goals and deadlines, I can remain present and focused each day.
Update
Now I am only a few weeks away from completing my second year at UF. To celebrate this milestone, I want to revisit the goals I listed above and evaluate how successful I was in achieving them.
-
I was unable to apply for my minor during the fall semester, but I successfully applied shortly after spring break. Better late than never!
-
I contributed to two posters that were presented at the Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium. Next year, I hope to present my own poster.
-
Unfortunately, I was so busy during the school year that I was unable to start volunteering at a veterinary clinic. I hope to change that during the summer of 2020.
-
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it has been difficult to make any study abroad plans. However, I aim to study abroad during the summer of 2021.
-
Now I fully understand why Organic Chemistry I and II have such terrible reputations. Both of these classes have driven me a little insane, but they have also forced me to rethink my study habits. Ultimately, I believe I will benefit from my struggles.
